North American Rescue's HyFin Vent Chest Seal sets the standard for the prevention, management, and treatment of open and/or tension pneumothorax, potentially caused by penetrating chest trauma. A pneumothorax occurs when air enters the chest through a wound, compressing the lungs and impairing gas exchange until respiratory paralysis occurs. The collapsed lung partially or completely stops breathing, leading to death. The set includes two NAR HyFin Vent Chest Seal occlusive dressings, double pack, each individually wrapped, designed to allow the user to apply the dressing to both the incoming and outgoing wound, and also allows the user to apply only one and store the other until it is needed, depending on the situation.

The innovative design has 3 ventilation channels that prevent air from entering the chest cavity during inhalation and allow air to escape through the ventilation channels during exhalation. The three ventilation channels are designed for blood flow and also provide a redundant fail-safe system, as even if two of the three channels are blocked, the ventilation opening will remain fully operational. Advanced adhesive technology provides superior adhesion, as the NAR HyFin Vent Chest Seal, double pack occlusive dressing is specifically designed for use in harsh environments where the victim may be covered in blood, sweat or other environmental contaminants, when a secure chest seal is imperative. Packaged in a compact, durable double foil pouch that is easy to open. Each dressing is provided with a gauze pad for wiping the wound surface before application. The package has a large red tongue for one-step application, and the transparent backing facilitates placement on the wound area by conforming to the patient's chest.

The HyFin Vent Chest Seal Twin Pack meets current emergency care standards and TCCC and TECC guidelines for the treatment of penetrating chest wounds and is an excellent pre-hospital chest sealant.
