The Opinel No. 6 VRN knife has compact dimensions: the length of the blade is 70 millimeters, while the total size of the knife when unfolded is 165 millimeters. The Swedish steel from which the blade is made is characterized by a high carbon content. This has its disadvantages and advantages. The advantages include the hardness of the steel after special heat treatment, as well as the fact that it perfectly holds a high-quality production sharpening. The disadvantages include the fact that steel with a high percentage of carbon is extremely unstable to the effects of moisture and quickly covered with rust, so our experts recommend carefully wipe the knife after each use, and as often as possible lubricate the blade with oil.
