The world-famous Opinel knives date back to 1890, when Joseph Opinel created his first folding knife to order. Ten years later he opened his own factory for the production of quality knives, and a year later he received the highest award at the world exhibition “Alpine”. By September 1939, about 20 million knives had been sold around the globe.

The Opinel №8 VRN knife is a classic Opinel tool, and it is the beginning of the history of these excellent folding knives. Its blade is made of steel with high carbon content, which determines its high hardness after special heat treatment. The blade of the knife keeps its factory sharpening perfectly, and if necessary it can be brought to the required sharpness with the help of a standard sharpening stone. The Virobloc locking mechanism, which was developed by Marcel Opinel in 1955, protects the owner's fingers from cuts.
