Description

The Opinel No. 8 Outdoor Yellow knife is one of the classic Opinel knives, whose design has remained virtually unchanged for a hundred years. However, new production technologies have yielded tangible results, improving the quality, reliability, and durability of the product. Thus, despite their external similarity, the new and old models are, in fact, different models. The design used in the Opinel No. 8 was created by Joseph Opinel himself (the founder of the company), and his family continued the business, year after year, improving existing knives, perfecting them, and designing new ones.

The Opinel 8 knife is a striking example of the combination of classic design and new production technologies. The blade of the Opinel 8 knife is made of Sandvic 12C27 stainless steel and has undergone special heat treatment, which ensures the hardness of the material at 57-58 HRC. In terms of cutting characteristics, the emphasis here was on the strength of the blade. The No. 8 blade (85 mm) is 2.5 mm thick (rather than 2 mm, as in classic Opinel knives).

The handle has changed from traditional wood to modern plastic, making the knife more practical and less sensitive to external conditions. Moreover, the end of the handle is a whistle with a power of 110 dB (audible at a distance of over 300 meters). With the help of an elastic lanyard, the knife can be easily attached to a belt or backpack.

The Opinel 8 knife is equipped with Opinel's standard “viroblock” lock, which ensures safe use and storage in virtually any conditions.
